It is only since i started to visit our communal site that i have found out that the Ombudsman's service is in fact a private ltd. company whose directors are directors of bldg.cosieities and/or other lending institutions. This must surely constitute a confliction of interests and bring into question the impartialty of this supposedly self-regulatory body.(posted 8416 days ago)A 'duty of care' must surely apply to an arbiter such as an ombudsman or else he cannot be seen to do his true and moral duty. (I asked a frriend of mine, who is a retired bank manager, whether the Banking Ombudsman had a duty of care - his response was "Of course he does or how can he carry out his duties?"
What I need to know is whether this duty of care applies in law. If you know the answer to this or any cases where a precedent has been set I would welcome the info.
Thanks, Joy
