Response to Refinal and Agfa films

from Wolfgang Holz (wolfgang.holz.wh@germany.agfa.com)
Dear Mr. Jedlicka,

one cannot say that REFINAL is better than RODINAL. It depends what you want. First of all the two developers are very different. REFINAL is a Powder and for machine processing. It can be replenished. RODINAL on the other hand is a liquid concentrate and for one shot use. REFINAL gives fine grain, RODINAL does produce very sharp negatives and since it can be diluted up to 1 + 100 it can be used for compensating the motive contrast. Regarding your second question, it is possible to process with a higher temperature than 20°C. As far as I know there is no trick or factor where you could say if I have time x with 20°C than I have to multiply this time with factor x and I have the processing time for a higher or lower temperature. If you could sent me your address I will send you a brochure where you can find tabels which give you some hints how to process with higher or lower temperatures. Or you can contact our subsidiary in the Czech Republic. The address is: Agfa S.R.O Litvinovska 609/3 Praha 9-Prosek The responisble person is Mr. Jan Bartak tel. 0042 02 66101 521

I hope this information helps you. If you have further questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
