What happens after 28 day ruling for reposession.

from Paul Rawstron (paul.2770@virgin.net)
My girlfriend is living in matromonial home with two children 8 and 5 years. She split with husband in July 1999 and he has not paid mortgage, #30000 in his sole name, since Nov 99, not to mention any maintenance !!. He lives in a large flat and has done since split.

The Abbey National wrote to him in March demanding payments. He ignored them totally and so the Abbey instigated court proceedings for repossesion. He did not tell his wife ( my girlfriend ) what was happening until 2 weeks before case was at court.

Today 16/10/00 the matter was heard. My girlfriend attended with legal rep. He did not appear. The Judge ordered that within 28 days my girlfriend and children should leave the property.

Clearly she is distraught and wonders what happens next if she cannot find other suitable accommodation before the 28 days are up.

Can anyone out there help us and advise us on what is the best thing to do, and what will happen after the 28 days are up.

She cannot pay the debt herself and is just after more time, ideally moving after Christmas.

Your help or personal experience will be appreciated.

Regards Paul Rawstron.
