Thanks for all your answers. You guys are way more helpful than some (most...all) manufacturer's Q answerers. I'll keep my present roughly 1/150 of Kodak Stop bath and add the tray of water between the Developer and Stop. If that doesn't work I'll try vinegar (Balsamic and I don't need to tone!).
