shortfall claims

I are being pursued for a mortgage debt of #18.000 from 1993 and the chelsea confirmed in writing last june that the account has been redeemed in 1994 they are still pursueing. their solicitors contacted me last april and the CAB took up my case and wrote direct to the chelsea asking for confirmation of any money i owe their response was account redeemed. how do i stand with this? Iwould value any advice
