Response to sodium sulfite--what does it do???

There isn't much I can add to Mr. Hicks excellent comments. But I do
have an article on mixing developers on my site at Unblinkingeye.com
that details the various components of developers and what each one
does. Adding sodium sulfite certainly isn't going to expand the tonal
range of your negatives. For that try PMK or X-tol.
