Response to Talking to MAME Dev

Well - the original reason for adding recording/playback was so that if there was a problem with a driver which only showed up on certain levels, the driver developer could easily view that level by using a .inp file that demostrated the problem.

It would still be best if we could find an open source solution to the problem, but I really don't think that's possible. Whatever servers the open source code connects to, and whatever time stamps, keys, or whatever it gets from them, a recompiled-with-cheating- enabled version could also connect to, and carry out the same transactions with them, too.

Maybe I'm missing something, and there is a method of securing .inp files with an open source program, but I can't see it at the moment. Chris.
