I'm in a situation where a very nice gentleman friend of mine (ok, more than just a friend, although we've not even held hands!)... has broken up with his ex (before we met)... but now she wants to get back with him and of course I could be left out in the cold, despite my friend "having fallen head over heels for me"... Situation is he feels responsible for her well being (she has threatened to commit suicide if he leaves her)... so, I'm looking for a poem that says, "even though I like you a lot (we've only known each other for 2 weeks)... I can't stand by and watch this / wait for you to sort this out because it could take forever".
