Response to PMK developing times

from Michael D Fraser (mdfraser@earthlink.net)
As measured on a color densitometer (uning the blue filter,) the actual EI of Delta 400 is 250 and HP-5+ is 200. I develop D-400 for 16 minutes at 68 F and HP-5+ for 13 minutes at 68 F. I use a 2 minute (or so) presoak in distilled water with a couple of drops of Edwal LFN. Using this data provides negatives that print 'normal' on grade 2 paper, and on VC paper with both controls of my Zone VI VC cold light (new head with small control box) set the same. Some people prefer to develop 35 mm so that it prints normally on grade 3. Reducing the development time by 15% for Delta and 20% for HP-5 will get you in the ballpark for that.
