sub-letting

I found out by chance that our house was being sub-let by my ex wife, the lender, the Halifax, did not tell me or ask for my approval or signature, but simply tell me it is my problem. I feel that the Halifax have not kept me fully informed of changes to the mortgage contract also the house insurance will now be invalid, i am told, what rights do i have, where do i stand??
