unmuting of tracks after editing a sequencer track

whenever I work on a song and have tracks muted except for the ones i'm working on they unmute when I go into track edit mode.This makes it hard to hear whether I want to keep the change or not and puts more wear and tear on the mute buttons.Is there a setting to stop the tracks from unmuting? thanks for your time, Def Cut Don
