Enlarging Exposure meters

I have tried sveral different enlarging exposure calculating devices but have never found them much help, always reverting to test strips. Someone has now offered me a Leitz Focometer which he tells me is the only reliable exposure meter. Has anyone experience of using this instrument. Is it as good as this person says ?
