I have not heard any credible sources with information on a future XL2. If you're looking for more features than the XL1 then you might want to check out the Sony DSR300 or the upcoming DSR500. I think the DSR300 weighs in at about 12lbs, which is about what my XL1 is up to with the ma100 adapter, dual battery adapter, shotgun mic, and wireless receiver.(posted 9200 days ago)- John
