Wanted: Rural community in western U.S.

I am interested in finding a group of people to ride out y2k with. Interested in open minded non-religious ethnically varied group with small children. My husband has excellent carpentry skills - I am a yoga instructor. I presently live in San Diego. I would like to stay within the western hempisphere of U.S.
