From a MAME team member, in response to me forwarding the queries from this board:(posted 10076 days ago)Well, I brought one of these cheap-ass Ensoniq PCI soundcards home just to prove the theory and quite frankly, I tried for a good couple hours to make it work right with MAME with NO avail. I am a professional technician, so I can understand the common folk having problems making it work.
When you BUY a "compatible" sound card, it just plain isn't a Sound Blaster - period. Spend the extra $10 and buy Creative Labs if you want complete reliability.
